Therapeutic Research Associate - Cloning

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cloning of genes of interest, regulatory elements, and vector components
  • Conduct molecular characterization including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, DNA binding assays, etc
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of experimental conditions, vector analysis, bacterial stocks, project data, and results
  • Conduct transient and stable transfections in cell lines using lipid nanoparticles and other methods
  • Contribute to the analysis of technical data and adaptation and improvement of routine methods
  • Operate, maintain, and clean equipment, maintain/order supplies, and manage waste
  • Maintain timely and detailed entries into an electronic notebook and database
  • Assist in refinement and development of company SOPs
  • Assist with mentoring of interns and assist with training

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters of Science [Senior RA Only] in Molecular Biology or related field. New graduates with at least 6 months of relevant lab experience are welcome to apply.
  • Demonstrated experience with seamless cloning methods, vector design, lentiviral and retroviral constructs.
  • Proficiency in PCR methods, DNA Binding, Western Blotting, ELISA, ChIP, immunostaining, and multiplexed protein assays
  • Basic experience with cell culture (desirable but not critical)
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Collaborative attitude with strong communication skills
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as pipetting and standing for long periods (2-4 hours)
  • Ability to read small text and labels

Recommended

  • Familiarity with working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Experience working with cell lines
  • Experience with immuno-precipitation such as ChIP or ELISA

Therapeutic Development Senior Scientist

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute process development to optimize cell growth, transfection, and viral infection using shake flasks, small-scale, and large-scale bioreactors.
  • Generate and maintain cell lines
  • Execute and develop assays to enable/detect epigenetic modifications and resultant gene expression for protein therapeutics
  • Provide support for and lead the transfer of developed upstream processes to internal and external manufacturing parties
  • Author technical reports, SOPs, batch records and technology transfer documents; contribute to scientific documentation of patent applications and subsequent internal and external presentation and/or publication of new technologies
  • Support lab operations through management of lab equipment; support development of lab capabilities through analysis of lab operations and capital management. Lead acquisition of new lab equipment as needed including assessing requirements and developing proposals.
  • Generate, manage, and maintain critical methods and data in a highly organized manner including experimental reports, SOPs, batch records, technology transfer documents, etc.
  • Train and oversee junior colleagues with respect to lab activities

Qualifications

  • PhD in molecular biology, bioinformatics, bioengineering, biochemistry, biotechnology, or related fields
  • Previous experience developing manufacturing processes in protein biologics
  • Previous experience of immunoassay/ligand binding assay techniques for quantification of protein therapeutics
  • Broad expertise in mammalian cell culture techniques in a BSL1 and BSL2 environment
  • Proficient with immunoprecipitation such as ChIP or ELISA
  • Proficient with Flow cytometry analysis and fluorescence activated cell sorting
  • Strong desire to learn new techniques, willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team, and be productive in a fast-paced start-up environment

Recommended

  • D. with 0-2 years of industry or relevant experience in process development
  • Prior experience working with rAAV or gene therapy products desired
  • Prior experience working with epigenetic modifications
  • Experience with light and confocal microscopy is highly desirable

Diagnostic Development Scientist

Responsibilities

  • Develop diagnostic methods to detect epigenetic signatures on circulating tumor DNA in human plasma samples
  • Lead and execute process development to optimize cell growth, transfection, and viral infection using shake flasks, small-scale, and large-scale bioreactors.
  • Engineer recombinant proteins able to detect specific DNA modifications
  • Conduct head-to-head comparative experiments against commercial products
  • Lead QC efforts for protein purification and assay development
  • Provide support for and lead the transfer of developed upstream processes to internal and external manufacturing parties
  • Author technical reports, SOPs, batch records and technology transfer documents; contribute to scientific documentation of patent applications and subsequent internal and external presentation and/or publication of new technologies
  • Support lab operations through management of lab equipment; support development of lab capabilities through analysis of lab operations and capital management. Lead acquisition of new lab equipment as needed including assessing requirements and developing proposals.

Diagnostic Development Research Associate

Responsibilities

  • Use software such as Benchling, Snapgene, and NCBI BLAST to help scientists design DNA-binding proteins and respective target sequences
  • Use software such as Primer3 to design, test, and optimize PCR primer conditions for qPCR
  • Perform protein-DNA pulldowns with endpoint, hydrolysis-probe qPCR
  • Chemical and enzymatic analysis of methylation patterns in genes of interest
  • Assist in design of protein-DNA assays alongside research scientists and collaborators
  • Prepare buffers or reagents and clean glassware to aid other researchers
  • Maintain timely and detailed entries into an electronic notebook and database
  • Assist in refinement and development of company SOPs

Qualifications
